Best quality and good prices. There really is no place comparable in Northern NJ. During Christmastime, people travel over 50 miles to get fish at PFM.

Freshest fish in the Ironbound. The fishmonger answered all of my questions about the fish (labeled in Portuguese, but I don't speak the language), then scaled and cleaned the ones we picked out.
Their fish is what you need. Always fresh and tasty ... no "fishy stink". Get some. Cook it.
Amazing service. Very fresh fish and shellfish. I have not seen anything like this open to the public. My fish monger spent at least 15 mins walking me through what I would get, how to prepare, selected my raw oysters one by one, and even called a local store about an oyster knife. Oh, I was on a bicycle, and the monger and manager helped fashion a book bag for me. Parking should be easy on a side street.
GREAT fish market that is walking distance from Newark Penn Station. I work in the area and frequent the market after work to get whatever fish my taste buds crave for dinner.
The person who attended me was really sweet and tried to help me as it was my first time visiting . He told Me a large price ( which I anyways had no clue was very high considering my 1st time ) he corrected himself and apologized immediately . The place has fresh fish and staff is really good . The area is nice too ..
This is the place my family comes every Christmas Eve. The prices are great and the sea assortment is the best. Fresness is never a question because the fish all have clear eyes, the octopus are still swiming in their pool, the clams are still spitting water, Jumbo shrimp are all fresh (not frozen), etc. The fish mongers filet the fish in front of us that we pick. Christmas Eve dinner is always 7 fish and this is still the best place to shop. We travel from northern Bergen county to Popular Market for the single reason that: our guests expect fresh delicious food and thats what we get here at the best prices!

I ordered a bushel of crabs and it was half the price of places down the jersey shore. Quality of the crabs were very good although I did notice a couple that pushed the legal limit (imo) and a some females. That's not their fault though. They just sell'em and can't check everyone in a crate. It was early morning and it already had a nice crowd and you can see there are people that travel from the 'burbs for their fish which is a testament to the selection they offer and freshness, I will be back.
